When I got to the theatre, i first had to look all around for my sponsor. I checked both levels at the theatre and even in the box office. I finally found her in the costume shop. She was looking for a pair of shoes to borrow because her boot broke.
The other intern from Venice High School and i started a project. Some old person donated all these librettos, which is a book full of all the music sung and played in a musical. Anyway Will and i had to organize them all into their ABCs and then compute them into the computer. Our next step is to find a way to have a check out system. Then build shelves and combine all the other librettos into the system.
My publicity homies were not there soo I could not set anything up with them. After next week my production and light design shall be put into place.

Today I went in and was told about this lovely project that this other kid and I would be working on. It was to look at all these librettos and scripts that was just piled on all these shelves and it was like mind boggling. I first took all these ones in binders and I put them in their ABC’s and all started on these other shelves. We had to take extras and hunt for the boxes with the librettos filled in all of them. I began to look through all these librettos and filled one shelve.

OMG! SOOO NOT COOL! I was very angry. not all of them were in their abcs and I had to go back through and redo everything and I had to do this with all of the boxes and all the shelves. I then had to reorganize all the scripts and all the other shelves in the room. It made me all sad that all my hard work went to waste. BUT I STILL had a lot to do.

Today I finished up the librettos and then I just ran random errands for all the staff. I went every where all around the theatre doing random errands. Today was just a random day.

SO today I had internship with the publicity people and I was handed a huge bag of names and all of the names were from Snowbird convention. I had to enter them into a data base and to a spreadsheet. Old people can not write. I had to enter over 150 names just today into the database. Not cool! But what ev.

    Feb18th
Today was not s fun day. I had to finish up entering all these people who are snowbirds. Their names had to go into the computer and into a database. WOW old people can not write. After I spent along time trying to decipher their handwriting, I finished up and went back to the ladies I was interning with. I was then supplied with another sheet to put into the database. This time it was easier and I liked that assignment. I was then assigned to start delievering posters. OHHH I also got to watch the dogs for a couple of minutes. The dogs are my homeslices. Their names are Fozzy and Winsten.

Today I went to Venice Theatre and I was assigned to walk around Venice Ave.. (aka Main street Venice) and deliver posters to stores. It was a bright and sunny day and I was glad it didn’t rain like it looked like it was going to. While delivering all these posters, I had to go into many stores. In this one store this old lady started singing to me. And I was like ummm (awkward but I didn’t say it) then the lady asked me if I knew who sang that and I said no. then she told me who sang it and then told me to go away because she does not allow people to hang up posters.
Another assignment was to use the paper cutter thingy. And I thought I broke it because it didn’t work all the way and the paper got stuck to the cutter and it was a big mess. But I fixed it without paper cuts and or slicing my finger open. I then gave it to the people who needed it and took off to go home.
My drive home was very interesting. There was like a cop chase and I was like OMG! There were two cops and an ambulance. And they were chasing this one car and I was like thank goodness it wasn’t me.

today i went in and i helped all out in publicity and i went through the order thingys and i put them in order by date and abcs. i then watched both publicity people with some things i then copied two scripts with this AMAZING copier. the copier, once you copy stuff can scan everything you copied and keep it in the system so if some guy needs to get a copy of something, they can just go to the copy and hit like database and then find the copy and hit print.

I left for about an hour and a half then came back. i was in charge of doing the 50/50. I made 140 dollars and the winner got 70 dollars and it was the most money made on one night of the shows run.

I kind of just hung around the place helping out here and there when needed. i did the 50/50 again and because there was only like 20 people i only made 61 dollars. the winner got 30 dollars. i then went home. it was not a very intersting day,

  7. 1. Today was intersting. I was helping prepare for a lunch in that everyone would be going to the next day. It was for like the rich peeps to give money for scholarships... (i think) I had to take all these photos and put them in these clippy things. The clippy things were in their own seperate boxes. It took me a billion jillion years to get them out of each box and then in another box. I then had to take them out onto the table and then put all the photos in the clips. After that i could not for the life of me figure out how to put them back into the BIG box.
After that i was recruited to pin up a curtain onstage. That way it gives it a full blue wash.

St. Pattys day. Today i worked with a different ascpect of the day. Costumes. Wow what a mistake that was. I am not good at all. I can not sew for my life. I suck at it. I dont even want to speak of the disaster that it would come out in. I then worked with a hot glue gun and ended up burning myself. Then i was told to tact the baby and i was like What? and they were like get to it. And i was like Umm What? Wont the baby feel it? and they were like No. The baby wont feel a thing. You are sewing stuff to it and through it. I was in deep shock but felt better when they handed me a fake baby

I met with the Lighting Designer John A. we takled about what i know and what i dont know about lights. They talked to me about my past experiences and all that jazz. He then talked to me about what im going to be doing over the course of the internship.
    March 16th
Today i went to my internship and the lighting designer had to leave so i had nothing to do. I hung with my sponser for awhile. running small errands for her.
    April 21st, 22nd, 23rd(everything cont...)
These three days i climbed up to the catwalks, which are iron and wooden planks from the roof. Here all the lights are for the shows. I began to take all the lights down, and since there are no steps, i had to awesomely tie a rope to it, and lower it down to the ground, go to the ladder, climb down and untie it and go back up and do it 14 more times. I then went to the other catwalks (i went across the Scary Wooden Bridge of Doom) (which is a plank held up with chains. and is slanted and has no stability and wobbles when you walk across it) i got the three 50 degress lights from there and then transfered over the Scary Bridge of Doom to the other catwalk. I then began to load more 50 degree lights up to the catwalk and had to repeat the climbing and loading on the rope alot more times.

  16. Haha Katie (to the comment you left me)
The play was fun, all the classes were so
cute. One class sang bazooka zooka bubblegum,
and they even had a little dance to it lol.

And oh my gosh, I really don't care much for
heights. So I give you props for having to
walk across the "Scary Wooden Bridge of Doom" :)

  17. haha.. love the "Scary Wooden Bridge of Doom!" lmao. It sounds like your internship is teaching you alot about what you want to do and giving you real life experience of the technical side of theatre as a career.

Today i was told to go up to the catwalks again and work on six lights. i was to open all the shutters on the lights refocus them and point them to the right direction. Then i had to put in six gobos, which is like a cutout thing put in the light and thats what makes the pictures or textures in the shows.

Today i was given a huge stack of gels, which gives color to the lights. I had to find a certin shade of orange. I then had to go to a different room in order to find the gel because the stack didnt have them. Once i found it i had to cut the gel to 5 3/4 by 6 3/4. I then had to install it in 13 different lights.
