today i saw the end of a cariod ultrasound. i also saw a abd (abdomen)on a older lady with a history of alcholism and a very enlarged and dense liver which was very interesting because i have never seen a case like that. it is amazing (in a sad way) to see the long term effects of alchol abuse on the organs of the body. it is truely amazing :)

i mentored with julia who i havent seen in a LONG time so it was nice to see her again. but i got to a abd ultrasound on a tiny lady. i felt bad because she was in so much pain, but i got to see liver cysts which ive never seen before. i thought they would cause some kind of problems, but julia taught me that liver can be okay if there not big. she also had some fluid in her pleural cavity, i also saw some ff (free fluid) surrounding her kidney. Julia said she was very impressed with how much i knew and that made me feel good that she was proud of me.

  4. It hows like you really like your internship, it sounds fun. I liked the comment about that lady with alcholism history. Sounds sad but interesting.

  5. you seem to be very enthralled (can not spell but its all good in the hood) in your internship. with these big words and all the complications, i would be very confused. are you going to be an xray tech or an ultrasound tech...?

  6. today was kinda slow (its been that way for a while)but anyway me and julia did an ultrasound RLEV (right lower extremity vascular) which are my least favorite kind of ultrasound. but you go down the leg augmenting and compressing the viens and arteries to make sure they collapse, thats how you tell if there are any clots blocking bloodflow that would cause pain, etc. but after that i have been having some pain in my abd so wash scanned my abd (abdomen) and told me i have fluid around my rt ovary which means i ruptured another cyst. so that was cool to see but the pain...not so cool :)

it was so slow on monday everybody was just sitting around there were only two scans that had to be done. and on top of that i was really sick so after 30-45 minutes washington told me i had to go home. it turns out i have the flu.

  8. today was not to busy for some reason. washington was over in the center for breast care today so i didnt really get to see him, so i got to stay with charles.by the time i got there they just finished up a para so me and charles wrapped up the the bottles and took them to the big bio-harazard can, then charles scanned a lady who had 13 surgeries...it was crazy the way she talked about them it sounded like she liked having surgery. so she was fine and there was nothing wrong that we could see, except that she was very dramatic.after that i filled up all the empty gel bottles, and put them back in the warmers.

  10. It seems like alot goes on in your internship. I think it would be exciting to work at a hospital but I think I would be worried when there are some ver tramatic cases.

  11. the last day on my internship i got to see a follow up on a patient who was 45 years old and was having some breast tenderness. i found out and got to see that she had a cancerous mass.it was really sad bbecause she is so young, but they think we caught it soon enough so it might not spread.

  12. one really interesting think i got to learn about at my internship is breast cancer. i learnd that 99% of the time if the walls are undefined and it looks like it has "fingers" it is probably cancerous.i also got to see a mass that had been removed, which was awsome!!
and i got to feel a cacerous mass under the skin which was interesting and sad at the same time.

  13. i remember one time we had this lady come in who was complaining of abd pain and we found out alcholol level was through the roof and we scanned her and she had a fatty liver and long story short she needed to stop drinking.

  14. one memorable moment for me was when charles taught me how to scan the paceras which was really hard, but i was so excited the first time i was able to scan myself and i found my pancreas...all by myself!!

  15. My least memorable momentat my internship were the days were we sat around and did nothing or i fill gel bottles,or on days that all the exams we had were vascular...they were my least favorite.
