2/2/09 Today was an interesting day.... I had to help in surgery by flushing out the insides of the stomach. I also helped feed a puppy that came in that had head truama from another dog from the dog putting the puppy in it mouth and shaking it. I cleaned the cages and cleaned surgery afterwards then helped with whatever else they needed me to help with.
2/3/09 Today was kinda a sad day. There was a yorkie who was old and gross looking that had kidney failure that had to be put down. I bagged the dog and put it in the freezer. I then helped restrain a basset hound while it was getting it ears cleaned.. it shook its head and got slobber on the back of my head... (GROsS)!! After that i set up a fecal slide and cleaned the exams rooms.
2/6/09 Today was a boring day. Nothing really was happening. I cleaned up mostly.. there was nothing really to do.. i got some poop and blood but that was mostly it for me.. :(
2/9/09 Today was a better day. It was very busy. I had to help in surgery and help restrain animals. I cut HoBos nail and i cleaned his and other cages. I walked the dogs and cleaned the belly of a sucered up puppy that just had its uterus taken out. I made up a bed for it and everything. so today for mr was very hands on :)
I would want to be a vet if it didn't involve guts or death. I'm glad that you can help animals but sad that some of them die or are sick. Good luck in the future!
4/13/09 today was an average day.. nothing not ordinary.. as soon as i got there i went to the back in treatment with kaitlyn and we said hi to all the animal.. we then cleaned up and we sorted out old xrays for recycling purposes. Then we restrained some dogs and took soom out to use the bathroom.
4/14/09 today was soooooooo slow!! when i say there was nothing goin on i mean it. we pretty much just cleaned up what ever needed to be cleaned up and de linted towels. then we just went in the back and played with some of the animals and talked :)
4/15/09 as soon as i came in, my sponsor wanted me to help this older lady take a bag of dog food to her car. After that then i organized some files in the office and then helped in surgery and cleaned some cages and fed some animals.
4/21/09 Today was kinda sad.. i almost cried.. this sweet daog had its bladder pretty much pushed to his butt and he wasnt able to urinate so they had to put him down which i had to bag him. it was so sad cause he was really sweet and its like he wasnt hurting at all like nothing was wrong. Then kaitlyn and I went to the back to see all the animals and fed them.
4/22/09 We finished some of the xray piles today but theres more to do. I walked a couple of sick dogs that had surgery and I put sodas up in the cooler and put meds away.
4/23/09 This really smelly cat came in which was in a fight and had all these knicks in it. Dr Vesper needed to act quickly nefore the infection spread so she cut open some of the serious wounds and made openings and put this rubber thing in it so all the bacteria could flush out. The cat had everything wrong with it. It smelled, had tapeworms and you ncould see them!! (GR0oss) and a whole bunch of fleas... i then took out some dogs and fed a cat that was sick with a 10cc syringe
4/24/09 heyyyy i didnt stay long at all because it was GRAD NITE 09 that night. lol But i did see a mammary surgery that was severe because the breast on the dog was so big and it had a whole bunch of tumors in it. But from what i know the dog was ok and dandy!! yay!
5/11/09 Today was a interesting day for me. I got to witness a puppy with a broken leg get his leg fixed and it was quite funny because he wouldn't leave his leg alone. We also got to watch this tumor removal on this big dog and then we just chillend and folded towels.
5/12/09 well to be very generous katilyn and myself went to go buy everyone cookies just becaus ewe wanted to and just because they've done so much for us. We then got to finish some more xray piles and then walk this cute puppy in treatment that almost died in surgery. then we cleaned up and swept and talked!
5/13/09 I could'nt stay for long because i had dance rehearsal but nothing happened really.. i just cleaned up and clipped some nails and cleaned the surgical tools.
5/14/09 The almost last day we got them a cookie cake and we made the staff a card that told them how much we appreciated them for evrything they taught us. We also helped more with the xray piles and we got to play with a couple puppies in the wards.
5/15/09 I came but only to get my evaluations and go back to the school cause i had dance practice before the big show again. I will admit i cried and i tryed to hide it so my sponsor could'nt see but she did anyways lol i had so much fun there and so many cherished memories that i will never forget any of those people. To me they were like a second family and i will always appreciate them for the chance they gave me.
